I miss you so much, my friend. You did the best job a cat could ever do. You were the kindest, most gentle soul. You always made me happy. you always came when I called, happy to see me. Happy to snuggle next to me. You were the best cat in the world. The hole that you leave in my life, and in my heart, is enormous.

UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your kind words. They have really been a comfort to me. This has been harder than before, because I knew him for almost 13 years. 13 years of constant companionship.   …that’s a huge hole.

new news

November 13, 2008 · 2 Comments

… As opposed to old news.  Speaking of old news, in all the election brouhaha i forgot a great story that I wanted to set down.  It happened on Hallowen, and it was a true real life Lucy and Ethel moment.  . . .  – only I was Lucy and Ethel was a really hot guy.  Here’s how it went.  I was at a costume party at Ned and Jim’s place, and I was wearing my cop outfit. So it was about 12:30 or so and we were all pretty well baked.  Ned wanted to be hancuffed by the cop (me) so I whipped out my police cuffs and pulled his arms behind his back. First one cuff went on (clickkk!), then the second one clicked shut. (clickkk!)

It was just at that moment that I realized that the handcuff keys were in my travel bag.

At home.

30 miles away.

So I said ‘Ned I dont have the key’ ….  no, I’m not joking…I really don’t'  Fortunately 2 things then happened. First was that we were all too stoned inebriated to get too upset, and second was this guy who came forward and said that he always carries handcuff keys in case of just such an event.

Leave it to a party full of fags.

Who else would just ‘happen’ to have handcuff keys on them? amazing. …. and they worked, too.

Last Saturday night, we rallied and marched in Silver Lake. It was, of course a rally against the passage of the mor m on fueled Proposition h8, which stripped all ‘mos of our right to marry and be happy. There were at least 10,000 of us. We met at Sunset Junction and there was a big flatbed truck there blaring out party music. Many of us were annoyed at the music. this wasn’t a party. It was a protest. I finally went up to the truck, where the organizers of the event weree, and I shouted that the music was inappropriate and that they were sending the wrong message. She (the lead agitaitor) yelled back at me that they were just trying to attract people. I yelled back that that was not necessary, that she was just telegraphing to the media that we were not serious. She said I was wrong, but cut the music anyway. Sure enough, on the news later, the master shot of the rally was blaring the fucking music, and the news reader commented on the “party atmosphere”. TOLD her so.

WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR SOME

Here are some shots taken wednesday night at the Proposition 8 protest rallies in West Hollywood and Hollywood. These pics were taken by Paco. We got there at  about 8pm, and there were several thousands rallying in front of the design cener in the heart of WEHO.

Soon thereafter, a group of about 700 broke away and began heading to the CNN tower on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. Paco followed that crowd, and snapped many of these pics.

Dave, Ryan, and I stayed behind with the main throng and presently the group got tense and ugly. one guy was wrestled to the street, as he was blocking a metro bus. There were helecopters everywhere. It was amazing. Ryan and I took his car and attempted to beat a second throng which had also broken off, heading for Hollywood and CNN. I’m still not sure what heir intent was. Perhaps to shove Larry king out of his sudio window, maybe?  At any event, we parked in the lot just adjacent to the CNN building and all was very quiet. The rioters were nowhere to be found. What we did find, on that side street, were abut 12 police riot cars. just ahead of them, standing at attention 3 abreast in the street, were the riot police. They were replete with helmets, shields, and clubs.

All of them, just …standing silently there.

Ryan was off snapping pics and I ventured forth on the side walk towards Sunset blvd. …a ghostly abandoned Sunset Blvd. All traffic in the area had been diverted. It was just me and the riot police, quiet and still as statues.    and silence.  waiting.

I looked at them. They looked at me. nobody spoke. I thought to myself ‘What would be an appropriate ice breaker here?’

There was none.  So Ryan rejoined me, after wisely electing to refrain from snapping pics of the riot cops. We discovered that evidently the main throng had already been and gone, and the police were braced for the 2nd group, which was making its way up Sunset Blvd, probably terrorising innocent celebrties and the local slacker phonistas. Just then, our stalwart riot police got in their cars and zoom zoom zoom –  one after the other they sped away down the empty boulevard. That night, Sunset Blvd lived down to it’s moniker of the ‘Boulevard of broken dreams’ … only now it was the boulevard of broken dreams for homos who’s rights have been ripped away.

The Mormon and Catholic churches have hurt me and mine. they must pay. They must lose their tax exempt status. You cannot be allowed to use the political system as a club to beat down those you choose to oppress and not face reprisals.

GOD DAMN the Mormons

GOD DAMN the cathaholics

MORMONS…THERE’S ONE TOO MANY “M’s’” IN THAT NAME

here are some more pics, thanks to Paco. Paco rules! (and of course he’s damn hot, too)

“Donnie and Marie, stop oppressing me!”

“Donnie and Marie, stop oppressing me!”

That’s one of the protesters signs I saw last night at the huge protest riot for prop 8 in Hollywood. Details, and ( I hope ) pics later. Paco took a bunch of great shots and as soon as he emails me I’ll post them.  Saw some big time beatings.  It’s been all over the news.  Speaking of news, I have a lot of it, but I’ve been so fucking busy at work I haven’t had a moment to breathe.  …and the last thing I want to do when I get home at night is sit at a computer.

More later….

I’ll leave you with a delightful advertisement that is now runnig on a creepy repigligoon blog.

They are now officially living in their past glory days. Just like Norma Desmond.

35% OFF ON ALL DELUSIONAL SHIT! YAY!

What do you want to bet that all of that discounted garbage has the name “Palin” on it?

Eve of Anticipation

November 4, 2008 · 4 Comments

It’s 9:49pm Monday, November 3rd 2008

Election Eve.

I’m so anxious and excited, but with an undercurrent of apprehensive dread. It’s like it’s Christmas eve, only I don’t know whether Mom and Dad are going to give out awesome presents, or burn the house down and skin the dog alive.

oh yeah…..

I haven’t heard a thing from my family about that letter I wrote to my Dad on Sunday.

as Steve Buscemi would say: “total Silence”
